Recovery depends on the procedure, the condition being treated, and individual healing. When surgery is planned, the expected recovery and follow-up are reviewed before the procedure.
What to Expect
A surgical consultation is an evaluation, not a commitment to have surgery. The visit reviews the problem, examination findings, X-rays or other tests, health history, and the patient’s goals. These findings are used to explain whether surgery should be considered and what questions remain.
